Tadeusz Stanisław Sumiński, ps. „Leszczyc” (ur. 1 kwietnia 1924 w Badurkach, pow. płocki, zm. 24 lutego 2009 w Warszawie) – polski fotografik, ekonomista, uczestnik powstania warszawskiego, żołnierz 2 drużyny III plutonu „Felek” kompanii „Rudy” batalionu „Zośka”.
Syn Ludomira, uczestnika wojny polsko-bolszewickiej, odznaczonego Krzyżem Walecznych, i Zofii z Tarnowskich. Uczeń Państwowego Gimnazjum im. Stanisława Małachowskiego w Płocku, harcerz 89. Mazowieckiej Drużyny Harcerskiej. Do 1941 roku mieszkał wraz z matką w rodzinnym majątku, skąd został wysiedlony przez Niemców. Trafił najpierw na Kielecczyznę, a następnie, dzięki rodzinie Tyczyńskich, do Warszawy. Uczył się na tajnych kompletach. Od jesieni 1943 roku należał do batalionu „Zośka”. Brał udział w akcji Par. II (baza leśna).
W powstaniu warszawskim walczył w szeregach harcerskiego batalionu „Zośka”. Należał do ośmioosobowej grupy (m.in. Jerzy Gawin, Irena Kołodziejska, Andrzej Samsonowicz) odciętej od batalionu podczas walk w obronie cmentarzy wolskich, która przeszła przez tereny zajęte przez Niemców i znalazła się w Kampinosie, a po dwóch tygodniach dołączyła − kanałami z Żoliborza − do baonu, przebywającego na Starówce. W nocy z 31 sierpnia na 1 września brał udział w przebiciu się części oddziału przez Ogród Saski i ul. Królewską do Śródmieścia. Następnie walczył na Czerniakowie, gdzie 23 września dostał się do niewoli niemieckiej. Przebywał w Stalagu XI A w Altengrabow k. Magdeburga.
W roku 1946 zdał maturę w V Miejskim Liceum dla Dorosłych. Z wykształcenia ekonomista, absolwent Szkoły Głównej Handlowej w Warszawie.
Aresztowany w pierwszej połowie stycznia 1949 r. przez funkcjonariuszy UB, przez pół roku przetrzymywany był w więzieniu mokotowskim za „próbę obalenia ustroju siłą” (chodziło o przynależność do Armii Krajowej). Przebywał w jednej celi z Gracjanem Frógiem. Wyszedł bez wyroku.

Tadeusz Sumiński urodził się w 1924 r. w Badurkach w województwie płockim, z wykształcenia jest ekonomistą. Od 1958 r. członek Związku Polskich Artystów Fotografików (ZPAF), przez wiele lat członek Rady ArtystyczZPAF.
Miał wiele wystaw indywidualnych i zbiorowych, autor i współautor licznych albumów fotograficznych. Najbardziej znany ze zdjęć krajobrazu. O niebie, jako szczegółowym temacie zainteresowań mówi: „Powstało jakby na marginesie takich analitycznych zainteresowań. Jest też moją demonstracją przekory wobec mody aktualnie panującej w fotografii krajobrazowej, zwłaszcza polskiej. Ten najbardziej ulotny i abstrakcyjny składnik krajobrazu jest niezwykle ważny, często decydujący o nastroju i charakterze zdjęcia. Rzadko jednak występuje w roli wiodącego tematu.
Niebo fotografuję od wielu lat i ciągle jestem zafascynowany chmurami, ich ekspresją, różnorodnością i nietrwałością zjawisk. Wybieram sytuacje, w których Ziemia wyraźnie przegrywa w konfrontacji z bogactwem i urodą Nieba. Staram się je pokazywać umiejscowione w krajobrazie jako element główny. Odwracam niejako proporcje praktykowane zwykle w tego rodzaju fotografii.
Moje zdjęcia nie są jednak fotografiami chmur! Aby się o tym przekonać, wystarczy zasłonić dolną partię zdjęcia ukazującego pozornie nieważną Ziemię. Natychmiast cały obraz staje się nie tylko nieznośnie płaski, ale w ogóle bezsensowny. Niebo nie może istnieć bez Ziemi.
Widziałem dużą wystawę Sumińskiego pt. „Niebo w krajobrazie”, na której zgromadził kilkadziesiąt zdjęć nieba, z których zamieszczam obok kilka…” – Czesław Czapliński.
Był członkiem honorowym Związku Polskich Artystów Fotografików. Jego prace wielokrotnie gościły na wystawach fotograficznych w Polsce (m.in. Anatomia krajobrazu, 1985). Pracował także jako fotoreporter, lecz znany był przede wszystkim jako fotografik krajobrazu. W 1994 wystąpił w filmie Krzysztofa Langa Powstanie Warszawskie 1944, opowiadając o swoich przeżyciach wojennych.
Zmarł w Warszawie, pochowany na cmentarzu Wojskowym na Powązkach (kwatera D 22-2-9).

Tadeusz Stanisław Sumiński, pseudonym "Leszczyc" (born April 1, 1924 in Badurki, Płock district, died February 24, 2009 in Warsaw) - Polish photographer, economist, participant of the Warsaw Uprising, soldier of the 2nd squad of the 3rd platoon "Felek" of the "Rudy" company of the "Zośka" battalion.
Son of Ludomir, participant of the Polish-Bolshevik war, awarded the Cross of Valor, and Zofia née Tarnowska. Student of the Stanisław Małachowski State High School in Płock, scout of the 89th Mazovian Scout Troop. Until 1941, he lived with his mother on a family estate, from where he was displaced by the Germans. He first ended up in the Kielce region, and then, thanks to the Tyczyński family, in Warsaw. He studied at secret classes. From autumn 1943 he belonged to the "Zośka" battalion. He took part in the action Para. II (forest base).
In the Warsaw Uprising, he fought in the ranks of the "Zośka" scout battalion. He belonged to an eight-person group (including Jerzy Gawin, Irena Kołodziejska, Andrzej Samsonowicz) cut off from the battalion during the fights in defense of the Wola cemeteries, which crossed the areas occupied by the Germans and found itself in Kampinos, and after two weeks joined - through the sewers from Żoliborz - the battalion, staying in the Old Town. On the night of August 31 to September 1, he took part in breaking through the Saski Garden and Królewska Street to the city center. Then he fought in Czerniaków, where on September 23 he was taken prisoner by the Germans. He was held in Stalag XI A in Altengrabow near Magdeburg.
In 1946, he passed his matriculation exams at the 5th Municipal High School for Adults. An economist by education, he graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics.
Arrested in the first half of January 1949 by UB officers, he was held in the Mokotów prison for half a year for "attempting to overthrow the system by force" (it was about membership in the Home Army). He was held in the same cell as Gracjan Fróg. He was released without a sentence.

Tadeusz Sumiński was born in 1924 in Badurki in the Płock province, and is an economist by education. Since 1958, he has been a member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers (ZPAF), and for many years a member of the Artistic Council of the ZPAF.
He has had many individual and collective exhibitions, and is the author and co-author of numerous photographic albums. He is best known for his landscape photographs. He says about the sky as a specific topic of interest: "It was created as if on the margin of such analytical interests. It is also my demonstration of defiance of the current fashion in landscape photography, especially Polish photography. This most fleeting and abstract component of the landscape is extremely important, often determining the mood and character of the photograph. However, it rarely appears as the leading subject.
I have been photographing the sky for many years and I am still fascinated by clouds, their expression, diversity and impermanence of phenomena. I choose situations in which the Earth clearly loses in confrontation with the richness and beauty of the Sky. I try to show them placed in the landscape as the main element. I somehow reverse the proportions usually practiced in this type of photography. However, my photos are not photographs of clouds! To convince yourself of this, it is enough to cover the lower part of the photo showing the seemingly unimportant Earth. Immediately the entire image becomes not only unbearably flat, but also completely meaningless. The sky cannot exist without the Earth. I saw Sumiński's large exhibition entitled “The Sky in the Landscape”, where he collected several dozen photos of the sky, of which I am posting a few here...” – Czesław Czapliński.
He was an honorary member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers. His works were often featured in photography exhibitions in Poland (including Anatomy of a Landscape, 1985). He also worked as a photojournalist, but was primarily known as a landscape photographer. In 1994, he appeared in Krzysztof Lang's film Warsaw Uprising 1944, telling about his war experiences.
He died in Warsaw, buried in the Military Cemetery at Powązki (section D 22-2-9).
