Mireille Mathieu (ur. 22 lipca 1946 w Awinionie) – francuska piosenkarka.
Nagrała ponad 1200 piosenek w jedenastu językach, w tym m.in. przeboje: „Acropolis adieu”, „On ne vit pas sans se dire adieu”, „Paris un tango”, „Santa Maria de la mer”, „Corsica”, „Made in France”, „Paris en colère”, „Mille colombes”, „Mon credo”, „La Paloma adieu”, „Tous les enfants chantent avec moi” i „La derniere valse”. Wydała ponad 100 albumów płytowych, które rozeszły się w łącznym nakładzie prawie 200 mln egzemplarzy na świecie.
Jest córką Rogera Mathieu i Marcelle-Sophie z domu Poirier. Pochodzi z wielodzietnej (jest najstarszą z 14 rodzeństwa), biednej rodziny, jej ojciec był kamieniarzem. W listopadzie 1965 dała swój pierwszy występ telewizyjny. Po występie w paryskiej Olympii została okrzyknięta „drugą Édith Piaf” ze względu na podobieństwo głosów obu artystek. Za sprawą menedżera, Johnny’ego Starka, uczęszczała na korepetycje z języka francuskiego, by poprawić swój akcent. Mimo że lansowała kolejne przeboje, np. „Akropolis adieu”, z uwagi na lekki i pozbawiony patosu repertuar była często krytykowana przez francuską inteligencję. Jednocześnie cieszyła się coraz większą popularnością i uznaniem w Niemczech, gdzie jej piosenki były notowane na listach przebojów, a ona sama trafiała na okładki czasopism.
„…Udało mi się spotkać i fotografować Mireille Mathieu 3 lipca 1986 r. w Nowym Jorku na otwarciu tzw. „Liberty Weekend” celebrującego 100.lecie Statui Wolności, na którym był nawet Prezydent Ronald Reagan z żoną Nancy. A wszystko odbywało się na Governors Island w New York Harbor. Muszę powiedzieć, że wielokrotnie widziałem Mireille Mathieu w TV czy na filmach, ale zobaczenie jej w rzeczywistości, zrobiło na mnie olbrzymie wrażenie. Zawsze powtarzam, że zobaczenie kogoś na żywo, to zupełnie inne wrażenie, a szczególnie jeśli byłem naprawdę blisko niej. W 1986 zagrała koncert w Chinach jako pierwsza w historii piosenkarka z Europy Zachodniej. Z koncertami wystąpiła także w Polsce (w 1969, 2010, 2016, 2020) oraz m.in. w ZSRR, Meksyku, Kanadzie, Niemczech, Stanach Zjednoczonych, Japonii, Tajlandii, krajach Skandynawii, we Włoszech i Hiszpanii.
W duetach śpiewali z nią m.in.: Dalida, Paul Anka, Barry Manilow, Plácido Domingo, Dean Martin, Charles Aznavour, Tom Jones, Petula Clark, Nana Muschuri i Josh Groban. Pozostaje jedyną piosenkarką w historii muzyki rozrywkowej, której szwedzki zespół ABBA towarzyszył (jako chórek) w nagraniu francuskiej wersji piosenki „The Winner Takes It All”.
W 1984 została odznaczona Krzyżem Oficerskim Orderu Zasługi Republiki Federalnej Niemiec, w 1999 otrzymała z rąk prezydenta Francji Order Kawalera Legii Honorowej, a w 2011 – Order Oficera Legii Honorowej. Uważana za ambasadora kultury francuskiej na świecie.
W 2002 odbyła tournée koncertowe we Francji, Belgii i Szwajcarii. Z okazji 40-lecia pracy scenicznej w 2005 odbyła tournée po Francji i Szwajcarii, prezentując także piosenki ze swojej nowej płyty. W 2006 ukazał się na DVD jej koncert jubileuszowy z paryskiej Olympii z listopada 2005, który osiągnął status platynowej płyty.
W 2007 otrzymała Srebrny Medal Zasługi Miasta Petersburga oraz nagrodę telewizji niemieckiej dla najpopularniejszej zagranicznej piosenkarki roku. Jesienią 2007 wydała niemieckojęzyczny album studyjny, a wiosną 2008 odbyła miesięczną trasę koncertową po Niemczech. W tym samym roku zagrała koncerty w Moskwie i Sankt Petersburgu.
W październiku 2009 wydała kolejny album w języku niemieckim, a w kwietniu i maju 2010 wystąpiła z koncertami w Niemczech, Austrii i Danii. Jesienią tego samego roku koncertowała w Litwie i Łotwie (po raz pierwszy w karierze), a 28 listopada 2010 roku zaśpiewała w Sali Kongresowej Pałacu Kultury i Nauki w Warszawie. Ta trasa koncertowa była częścią świętowania jubileuszu 45-lecia działalności artystycznej.
Następne lata przyniosły wydanie kolejnych płyt i koncerty w Europie (w tym m.in. w latach 2014–2015 tournee z okazji 50-lecia kariery oraz – w październiku 2016 – recitale we Wrocławiu, Warszawie i Gdyni). W 2018 zagrała kolejne recitale w krajach europejskich i wydała album pt. Mes classiques z utworami muzyki klasycznej. W 2019 wzięła udział w ceremonii otwarcia pierwszej linii tramwajowej w Awinionie, a premierę miała dwupłytowa kompilacja pt. Cinéma, która zawiera 40 utworów – kompozycji napisanych do filmów i wykonanych przez Mathieu.
Wiosnę 2020 zagrała koncerty w Budapeszcie, Warszawie i Pradze, a dalszą część trasy (obejmującą występy w Słowacji, Rosji i Bułgaria) przełożyła z powodu pandemii COVID-19. W 2021 ukazała się reedycja (na płycie kompaktowej oraz dwóch płytach winylowych) pierwszej długogrającej płyty Mathieu – z 1966, wzbogacona o piosenki, które wcześniej nie ukazały się na żadnej płycie.

Mireille Mathieu (born July 22, 1946 in Avignon) is a French singer.
She has recorded over 1,200 songs in eleven languages, including the hits: "Acropolis adieu", "On ne vit pas sans se dire adieu", "Paris un tango", "Santa Maria de la mer", "Corsica", "Made in France", "Paris en colère", "Mille colombes", "Mon credo", "La Paloma adieu", "Tous les enfants chantent avec moi" and "La derniere valse". She has released over 100 albums, which have sold a total of almost 200 million copies worldwide.
She is the daughter of Roger Mathieu and Marcelle-Sophie née Poirier. She comes from a large (she is the oldest of 14 siblings) poor family, her father was a stonemason. In November 1965 she gave her first television appearance. After performing at the Olympia in Paris she was hailed as the "second Édith Piaf" due to the similarity of the two artists' voices. Thanks to her manager, Johnny Stark, she took French lessons to improve her accent. Although she launched subsequent hits, such as "Akropolis adieu", she was often criticized by the French intelligentsia due to her light and devoid of pathos repertoire. At the same time, she enjoyed increasing popularity and recognition in Germany, where her songs were listed on the charts and she herself appeared on the covers of magazines.

In 1986, she played a concert in China as the first singer from Western Europe in history. She also performed concerts in Poland (in 1969, 2010, 2016, 2020) and, among others, in the USSR, Mexico, Canada, Germany, the United States, Japan, Thailand, Scandinavian countries, Italy and Spain.
Duets with her included: Dalida, Paul Anka, Barry Manilow, Plácido Domingo, Dean Martin, Charles Aznavour, Tom Jones, Petula Clark, Nana Muschuri and Josh Groban. She remains the only singer in the history of pop music to be accompanied (as a backing vocalist) by the Swedish band ABBA in the recording of the French version of the song “The Winner Takes It All”.
In 1984 she was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, in 1999 she received the Order of the Legion of Honor from the President of France, and in 2011 - the Order of the Officer of the Legion of Honor. She is considered an ambassador of French culture in the world. In 2002 she went on a concert tour in France, Belgium and Switzerland. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of her stage work in 2005 she went on a tour of France and Switzerland, also presenting songs from her new album. In 2006 her anniversary concert from the Olympia in Paris from November 2005 was released on DVD, which achieved platinum status. In 2007 she received the Silver Medal of Merit of the City of St. Petersburg and the German Television Award for the most popular foreign singer of the year. In the autumn of 2007 she released a German-language studio album, and in the spring of 2008 she went on a month-long concert tour in Germany. In the same year she played concerts in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. In October 2009 she released another album in German, and in April and May 2010 she performed concerts in Germany, Austria and Denmark. In the autumn of the same year she gave concerts in Lithuania and Latvia (for the first time in her career), and on November 28, 2010 she sang in the Congress Hall of the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. This concert tour was part of the celebration of the 45th anniversary of her artistic activity.
The following years brought the release of more albums and concerts in Europe (including a tour in 2014–2015 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of her career and – in October 2016 – recitals in Wrocław, Warsaw and Gdynia). In 2018, she played more recitals in European countries and released an album entitled Mes classiques with classical music pieces. In 2019, she took part in the opening ceremony of the first tram line in Avignon, and a double-CD compilation entitled Cinéma was released, which contains 40 pieces – compositions written for films and performed by Mathieu. In spring 2020, she played concerts in Budapest, Warsaw and Prague, and the rest of the tour (including performances in Slovakia, Russia and Bulgaria) was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, a reissue (on compact disc and two vinyl records) of Mathieu's first long-playing album from 1966 was released, enriched with songs that had not previously appeared on any album.
