John Denver, właśc. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. (ur. 31 grudnia 1943 w Roswell, zm. 12 października 1997 w Pacific Grove) – amerykański piosenkarz muzyki country, folk i pop. Jego najbardziej znaną piosenką jest Take Me Home, Country Roads.

Urodził się w rodzinie Henry'ego Johna Deutschendorfa Sr. (z pochodzenia Niemca) i Ermy Louise Swope (pochodzenia niemiecko-irlandzkiego). Jego ojciec był oficerem Air Force i instruktorem lotów. Pierwszy album wydał w 1969 roku, był to Rhymes and Reasons. W 1968 poślubił Ann Martell, której zadedykował jeden ze swoich największych hitów - Annie's song. Do 1971 mieszkali w Edina w stanie Minnesota, a następnie wyprowadzili się do Kalifornii.

„…Niezwykle wówczas znanego w Ameryce i na świecie Johna Denvera spotkałem i fotografowałem 9 września 1986 r. w Nowym Jorku. Przygotowując się do spotkania dużo się o nim dowiedziałem. Ale kiedy zrobiłem zdjęcia i wysłałem mu, otrzymałem list w którym napisał, że bardzo mu się podobają i cieszy się, że znajdą się na mojej wystawie „Face to Face”…” – Czesław Czapliński.
Adoptowali syna Zacharego i córkę Anne Kate. W 1976 roku publicznie popierał kandydaturę Jimmy'ego Cartera na prezydenta, z którym się wkrótce bliżej zaprzyjaźnił. Denver działał również charytatywnie m.in. na rzecz biednych, głodujących i chorych na AIDS. Publicznie krytykował prezydenturę Ronalda Reagana. Jego muzyka była często używana w filmach. Ostatnią płytę wydał w sierpniu 1997 roku.
Był pilotem hobbystą. Zginął w katastrofie lotniczej swojego samolotu Rutan Long-EZ nad Pacific Grove.

John Denver, a.k.a. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. (born December 31, 1943 in Roswell, died October 12, 1997 in Pacific Grove) - American country, folk and pop singer. His most famous song is Take Me Home, Country Roads.

He was born into the family of Henry John Deutschendorf Sr. (German descent) and Erma Louise Swope (German-Irish descent). His father was an Air Force officer and flight instructor. He released his first album in 1969, Rhymes and Reasons. In 1968 he married Ann Martell, to whom he dedicated one of his greatest hits - Annie's song. They lived in Edina, Minnesota until 1971 and then moved to California.

“…I met and photographed John Denver, who was then extremely famous in America and around the world, on September 9, 1986 in New York. While preparing for the meeting, I learned a lot about it. But when I took the photos and sent them to him, I received a letter in which he wrote that he liked them very much and was glad that they would be included in my "Face to Face" exhibition..." - Czesław Czapliński.
They adopted a son, Zachary, and a daughter, Anne Kate. In 1976, he publicly supported Jimmy Carter's candidacy for president, with whom he soon became closer friends. Denver was also active in charity, including: for the poor, hungry and AIDS patients. He publicly criticized Ronald Reagan's presidency. His music was often used in films. He released his last album in August 1997.
He was a hobby pilot. He died in the plane crash of his Rutan Long-EZ plane over Pacific Grove.
