Jan Dobkowski (ur. 8 czerwca 1942 w Łomży) – polski artysta; zajmuje się malarstwem, rysunkiem, tworzy aranżacje przestrzenne.

Studiował w warszawskiej ASP w l. 1962–1968 na kierunku malarstwo. Obronił dyplom w pracowni prof. Jana Cybisa. Na czwartym roku studiów zaprzyjaźnił się z Jerzym Zielińskim, z którym dwa lata później, podczas przygotowań do wystawy obu artystów, ogłosił istnienie grupy Neo-Neo-Neo. Artyści wystawiali razem do 1970 roku.
Sukces na wystawie w Galerii Współczesnej „Secesja-Secesja?” (Warszawa, 1968) zapewnił mu udział w ekspozycji sztuki polskiej w Paryżu – „Polskie malarstwo współczesne. Źródła i poszukiwania”. Niedługo potem nowojorskie Muzeum Guggenheima zakupiło obraz Podwójna dziewczyna (1968). Był to pierwszy czerwono-zielony obraz Dobkowskiego. Rok później artysta stworzył cykl podobnych dzieł – od żywego zielonego tła odcinały się ostro czerwone sylwety postaci – który stał się punktem wyjścia do kolejnych realizacji. Uczestnik Sympozjum Plastycznego Wrocław ’70 (w zespole Mariana Bogusza).
„…Z Janem Dobkowskim spotykałem się na różnych wystawach, ale pierwsze portrety zrobiłem mu 29 listopada 2007 r. w Warszawie, drugi raz obszedłem z nim po jego retrospektywnej wystawie z okazji 80.lecia urodzin pt. „Podróż do uniwersum” w warszawskiej DESA Unicum - 2 sierpnia 2022 r. Twórczość Dobkowskiego jest – zdaniem krytyków – fascynującym śladem wizualnej kultury hipisów. Jan Dobkowski był stypendystą Fundacji Kościuszkowskiej w Nowym Jorku (1972), Otrzymał Nagrodę im. C. K. Norwida (1978) i Nagrodę im. Jana Cybisa za całokształt twórczości (1994). Jest od 3 czerwca 1998 honorowym obywatelem Miasta Łomży.
W 2012 został odznaczony Srebrnym Medalem „Zasłużony Kulturze Gloria Artis”. W 2024 został uhonorowany Złotym Medalem „Zasłużony Kulturze Gloria Artis”.

Jan Dobkowski (born June 8, 1942 in Łomża) – Polish artist; deals with painting, drawing, and creates spatial arrangements.
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 1962–1968, majoring in painting. He defended his diploma in the studio of prof. Jan Cybis. In the fourth year of his studies, he became friends with Jerzy Zieliński, with whom two years later, during preparations for the exhibition of both artists, he announced the existence of the Neo-Neo-Neo group. The artists exhibited together until 1970.
Success at the exhibition at the Contemporary Gallery "Secession-Secession?" (Warsaw, 1968) allowed him to participate in the exhibition of Polish art in Paris - "Polish contemporary painting. Sources and searches. Shortly thereafter, the Guggenheim Museum in New York purchased the painting The Double Girl (1968). It was Dobkowski's first red-green painting. A year later, the artist created a series of similar works - red silhouettes of figures stood out sharply against a vivid green background - which became the starting point for subsequent works. Jan Dobkowski was a scholarship holder of the Kościuszko Foundation in New York (1972). C. K. Norwid (1978) and the Jan Cybis for lifetime achievement (1994). He has been an honorary citizen of the City of Łomża since June 3, 1998.
In 2012, he was awarded the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis. In 2024, he was awarded the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis.
